What is this? wordcutz.com allows you to search for text phrases in hip hop lyrics in a google like style. The idea was originally to find scratches for music productions or battle dj sets. E.g. if you want to find the phrase "the greatest", just type it into the search window and you will get a list of songs containing this phrase. What is/are wordcutz? It is a derivation of the words "word" and "cut". Word cutting was a battle dj style, invented by djs like dj static or dj shine. The idea is to combine short phrases from different records into a new order with a new meaning. What is the difference between simple search and advanced search? The results will be the same but you can customize how the results are displayed. What is "show highlights" in advanced search? If a song contains the phrase you are looking for several times, you can configure how many lines of it are shown on the search page. What is "exact search" in advanced search? E.g: If you search for the word "want" it will also find the word "wanted". If you check the exact search checkbox, "wanted" will not be shown anymore. Can I use Google search options like "" or -? No. It exists since 2004? Yes, but it was a non-public website until 2015. Why is it public now? To share it. Why is it slow? A search lasts between two to ten seconds, sometimes 20 seconds. Making it faster would consume time and money, which we do not have. I found a bug, what can I do? Honestly... unless it is security relevant, keep it. There will not be any more development on this page. Will the database be extended to contain lyrics from website XVZ or other genres? Will the database updated with new content? Maybe.
